Invisible Battles: A Journey Through Mental Health, is a short film made by Grade 11 learners from Masiphumelele and Ocean View High School in Fish Hoek, Cape Town. Composed of interwoven testimonies from South African youth, this short documentary offers an examination of youth mental illness and the stigma that often surrounds it. Tackling themes of depression, self-injury, gender dysphoria, and sexual trauma, the film foregrounds the structural and social conditions that render these experiences invisible and makes a compelling case for accessibility of mental health care, while drawing attention to the everyday acts of listening and intervention that can interrupt cycles of harm. #mentalhealthmatters #endthestigma #itsokaytonotbeokay
