Post-COVID: How Coronavirus Shaped Society is a short film produced by high school learners from Bishop Lavis in Cape Town as part of our Learner Doccies programme. Through personal stories and experiences, the film examines how life changed during and after the COVID-19 pandemic for residents of Bishop Lavis.
C-SHARP is an urban health and demographic surveillance project working in the communities of Bishop Lavis and Nomzamo to better understand and improve health outcomes. It brings together government departments and research institutions to collect and analyse community health data, integrating this work into everyday primary healthcare services.
We thank the C-SHARP for working with us on the Learner Doccies programme.
The film reflects the impact COVID-19 had on employment and livelihoods. Many residents stopped working or were retrenched, leaving families without income or security. For some, this led to the loss of homes and, in some cases, homelessness. Many of these challenges are still being felt by residents today.
